Linda Maxwell

Back

Prior to finding her life’s mission, Linda Maxwell worked in business management in both the apparel and entertainment industries. From national sales manager in wholesale apparel to general manager of a retail chain; from recording studio manager to production management, she found good leadership to be an endeavor worth her efforts. In addition, her education in computer programming with an emphasis in data base structures, gave her a talent in problem solving and managing more than one project at a time.

In her late thirties, Linda realized she had another mission….helping others. After a year of deep personal searching and sorting, she started volunteering at a local shelter for abused children. In a partnership with Telemundo’s flagship station, KVEA, Channel 52, she helped co-found de mi Corazón, a non-profit dedicated to providing assistance to organizations that offer programs to prevent and heal child abuse. It was to be first step in serving youth and families.

As Executive Director of de mi Corazón, Linda was responsible for raising awareness and money, and developing partnerships that would connect agencies to businesses. Two telethons later and a media campaign that did not exploit the tragedy of child abuse, Linda helped to raise more than $500,000 to benefit the agencies that provided services.

But that was not enough. With a desire to be more ‘hands on’, Linda took advantage of an opportunity to ‘mentor’ twenty at-risk females from rival gangs. Since that time, she and her partner, José R. Quintanar founded We Care for Youth and have worked with more that 9000 teens and their families.

Linda has been trained in Appreciative Inquiry, Anger Management, Conflict Resolution, A World of Difference, and is fluent in Positive Youth Development and other prevention strategies. She has worked nationally in providing environments to develop confidence and success for children and adults. She has spoke both nationally and internationally on community building and the benefits of positivity.
